The Fit Life Personal Training

Kind words from those who have worked face-to-face with me.

Sarah B.

Theatre Manager

Goals: toning up and to enjoy workouts

Our strategy:

  • Make workouts fun, challenging and progressive, building her competency with bodyweight and free weight exercises

  • To stick to evolving calorie and macronutrient targets, designed to help her reduce body fat (but also retain energy to perform well in the gym and in her day to day life)

  • To improve her time management and prioritisation, due to a demanding job and a busy social life

  • To dovetail participation in her favourite sport (netball) with her PT-led training

In Sarah's words:

"Meg is an incredible PT who goes above and beyond for his clients. He puts so much time and effort into carefully planning each individual session to ensure it is specific to every clients needs/goals. Meg is the only PT I have had and before starting sessions with him I didn’t have much motivation at all for the gym. I am someone who is sporty but just couldn’t really be bothered to go to the gym. Meg has completely changed my view and really helped me to achieve goals I never thought I could achieve. I cannot believe how much Meg has helped me achieve already.

Every session with Meg is fun (he will make you laugh - guaranteed) and challenging and you will always come away feeling so much better than when you walked into the gym. He is made me so much more confident in myself and my own abilities and I can now happily workout on my own with the guidance of Meg's additional workouts on the app, without feeling self conscious and coming away feeling like I’ve actually done something productive.

I would highly recommend Meg to anyone. He really is the best of the best. If you want someone who is sensitive to your needs, takes into account if you’ve had a bad day, pushes you and challenges you without over doing it and goes above and beyond for you then Meg is your guy! He is one of the most positive people I have ever met and if you choose to work with him you honestly will not regret it!"

Video Producer

Goal: lean muscle gain

Our strategy:

  • Strength and hypertrophy-based workouts, ensuring he hit sufficient volumes with progressive overload, combined with LISS cardio and an active recovery programme away from PT to boost confidence and fitness self-sufficiency

  • Athletic plyometric/power based work in the gym to boost agility, speed, co-ordination and endurance

  • To meet 'recomp' nutritional targets, helping him retain/build as much muscle tissue as possible, whilst ensuring his gains were as lean as possible

  • To co-create a 'recipe bank' based on the food he loved eating, to systemise his day-to-day nutrition

In Aarons's words:

"I've really enjoyed the sessions and have honestly learnt more about fitness and training than in my whole life. I really like the app integration as well which makes everything really convenient.

Before signing up with Meg, I always found it really hard to stay consistent with my health and fitness and was quite aimless in terms of actually having any kind of plan and pretty much just winged it with mixed results.

Meg has given me a really good personalised structure and base to go on and achieve my goals and I've felt stronger and healthier than I ever have. He's also taught me the value of everything else outside of the gym and now that has a real impact on health and wellbeing.

The sessions are always challenging but good fun and I'm feeling very positive and excited about my health journey going forward thanks to Meg!"

Holly C.

Nurse

Goal: to have fun workouts

Our strategy:

  • To make gym time enjoyable and rewarding, introducing her to a range of new and interesting exercises, equipment and ideas in a fun, light-hearted PT environment designed to boost confidence and competency

  • To improve time management through weekly attention to scheduling

In Holly's words:

"Meg has completely changed my outlook on exercise. I used to go to the gym and never have the motivation to do anything substantial that would even make a difference, but Meg has pushed me to lengths and abilities that I wouldn’t have seen if I was in the gym on my own or with anyone else for that matter.

He has made me feel fitter, healthier and more confident. He is the most committed person I have ever met and he always makes every training session interesting, challenging but packed full of fun and always has me laughing but working incredibly hard!

I would highly recommend Meg to anyone who is looking for a challenge but also to put some fun into your workouts and get results that you’re extremely satisfied with!"

Jack N.

Sales Exec.

Goal: fat/weight loss

Our strategy:

  • To combine strength-based, progressive compound lifts in the gym with demanding but fun high intensity and LISS cardio, using all three energy systems to drive motivation and results

  • To incorporate his participation in a sport (American Football), amending sessions and workload to suit

  • To adhere to a deficit calorie range and specific macronutrient targets weekly, systemising the process through proactive meal and food diary planning

  • To reduce stressors and lower blood pressure by performing regular parasympathetic activities and boundary setting

  • To improve time management through weekly attention to scheduling and prioritisation

In Jack's words:

"I know a lot of PT's and Meg stood out immediately. For me, a lot of PT's are all about themselves, and don't tend to focus on you as much, however with Meg I knew this wasn't the case straight away. Feeling comfortable working alongside your PT is probably the most important thing, and Meg does more than this by putting his clients first.

His sessions are fantastic, variable, and most importantly fun. If you have a specific goal, whether it be weight loss, weight gain or just muscle build he will vary his sessions for this to accommodate. Personally my biggest goal is weight loss, and have lost three stone stone already in a short amount of time.

If anyone is like me, thinking about whether or not they should do this, take the plunge as it's not something you will regret. Anyone like me knows how hard it is to decide whether or not to do it, so just get it done! Simple as that! Meg my man - you are a legend."

Katie P.

Charity Worker

Goal: improve athletic performance as a gym beginner

Our strategy:

  • Building skills and confidence with a wide range of exercises - performing them safely to keep her fitness consistency high

  • To build upper body strength through progressive overload, combined with agility, balance and power based work to improve her sports performance

  • To improve ankle mobility via quick 'at-home' drills

  • To improve sleep volume and quantity via a range of lifestyle and mindset micro-habits, reviewed every fortnight

  • To monitor and be proactive with food and drink consumption in order to balance her consumption and choices

  • To boost hydration by making water intake a regular habit

In Katie's words:

"As a novice, I didn’t really know what to do in the gym but I knew I wanted to train so I could improve in my sport (dance). I mainly did it for the fitness but the programme takes a holistic approach, caring equally about your mindset, your lifestyle and your nutrition. I’m seeing improvements in all of those areas.

Meg is fun, friendly, supportive and takes his job seriously both in and outside the gym - he effortlessly moves from talking about how you could improve your sleep to correcting you as you perform another set, giving you detailed feedback.

He celebrates your wins, even the small ones that you don’t think are worth celebrating. He also provides support outside the gym through his app where he sets tasks and habits according to your goals. I would definitely recommend The Fit Life PT."

Caren C.

Student

Goals: to tone up and improve overall fitness

Our strategy:

  • To improve movement quality when training, to boost efficacy (including extended PT sessions, allowing more time for technique coaching)

  • Gently building in progressive overload, to enable her to retain as much muscle mass as possible, whilst reducing body fat

  • Following a weekly fitness programme, building in active recovery, daily activity targets (measured via her fitness watch) and mobility work to boost results and foster an identity shift when it comes to her fitness

  • Improving the accuracy of her daily nutrition journalling, to improve her results

  • To improve her sleep-supporting habits and behaviours, including my 3-2-1 method

In Caren's words:

"I wanted to start Personal Training to tone up and achieve my desired level of fitness. With Meg’s tailored approach and personalised workouts, I have made significant progress towards my goal.

Meg’s approach has been invaluable, targeting my specific goals and preferences, making each session highly effective. It’s been remarkably effective and highly tailored. The sessions are not only productive but also fun, filled with jokes and banter that make the workouts feel like a breeze plus Meg fosters a very supportive atmosphere.

The planning tools provided have helped me stay organised and manage my time effectively. The consistent accountability and monitoring have helped me stay on track and motivated. I have seen great improvements in my habits and lifestyle in such a short period.

Overall, I am incredibly impressed and I couldn’t be happier with my experience with The Fit Life Personal Training and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to achieve their fitness goals."

Harry B.

Retail

Goals: to train safely around an acute back injury

Our strategy:

  • To train within a range of safe exercises during PT, mitigating his injury, and enabling him to still have progressive and fun workouts

  • Full body workouts, progressively overloading at a quicker rate with horizontal/vertical push and knee dominant exercises, whilst building at a slower rate with hip hinge and horizontal/vertical pull exercises designed to gently strengthen physiological structure around his injury

  • To batch prepare '80/20' meals in advance, to support his training programme and to promote recovery

In Harry's words:

"I've worked with Meg for some months now and he is great at what he does! He was able to cater to the issues I've had with my lower back and completely customise the plan to suit this.

Since my time with Meg my back has felt great and I haven't felt any issues with it, for this I'm grateful! He is also extremely accommodating, it was always Meg being able to fit in with my schedule and not me trying to fit in with his.

I would definitely recommend Meg to anyone whether they are just getting into fitness or are wanting a bit of help to tailor a plan to suit their needs. Thanks again Meg!"

Goal: fat/weight loss

Our strategy:

  • Regular training sessions, mixing free weights with targeted cardio work to keep sessions fresh and varied

  • To build skill sets within various movement patterns, in a way that boosted in-gym confidence

  • To adhere to a deficit calorie range and specific macronutrient targets weekly, systemising the process through proactive meal planning and thoughtful shopping choices

  • To improve time management through weekly attention to scheduling and prioritisation

In Lily's words:

"When I chose to have PT sessions with Meg, my life changed. Meg is the most understanding, caring, motivating, determined person you will ever meet. He always puts 100% into the sessions and makes them for you specifically.

It's the best decision I’ve ever made. With him, I feel like I’m actually going to reach my goal of losing weight. People I work with have commented on how good I look which makes me happy because I have never been body confident and I am starting to now - all of the hard work is worth it!

My food has changed and the way I think about it. I’m so much more confident cooking the right foods and choosing the correct, more nutritious choices.

Meg has pushed me to my limits and has been so patient with me. I have achieved things I didn’t think I would have achieved. It’s truly amazing what Meg has taught me and pushed me to do. He believes in me. He is motivating, friendly, can have a good laugh and really pushes you to your limit. I truly recommend Meg as a PT because you will not be disappointed."

Eve G.

Project Manager

Goal: fat/weight loss as a gym novice

Our strategy:

  • To build competency around fundamental movement patterns, helping her train efficiently and enjoyably

  • Staged introduction of new equipment and machines, to boost familiarity and confidence around the gym

  • High Intensity Resistance Training (HIRT) to retain muscle mass whilst in a calorie deficit, as well as boosting EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption)

  • To journal her food and drink intake daily, aiming to meet a moderate calorie deficit target regularly

In Eve's words:

"Meg is an incredible coach. Before I started training with him, I had such high anxiety just about entering the gym, let alone how to work any of the machines or equipment! However, Meg is so supportive and considering how nervous I was in the beginning, in just six months I’ve learnt so much - I can use the machines without thinking and walk in to the gym any time I like and feel comfortable knowing what I want to focus on. All of this is completely down to Meg.

He’s is super focused on your goals - it’s a dream being able to walk in for two sessions a week and know everything I’m doing will get me closer to where I want to be, all because Meg plans so much in advance and will do all the thinking for you. He’ll never bark orders, stare into space, mess about on his phone or any of the other really annoying stuff you see other PT's do - he’s just a genuinely kind, caring and dedicated professional who wants to help.

Whether you’re a complete novice to fitness or pretty confident but need that extra guidance - Meg is the one. Cannot recommend The Fit Life PT enough!"

Co-ordinator

Goal: fat/weight loss

Our strategy:

  • A varied weekly fitness programme, incorporating progressive strength/resistance training, as well as a range of cardio modalities based on what she found enjoyable

  • An additional weekend workout to boost confidence and activity on quieter (non-working) days

  • Regular mobility and stability work to improve the effectiveness of her exercise

  • To consistently meet personalised calorie and macro range targets, within a flexible range

  • To schedule her time proactively via a written calendar, to help her thoughtfully structure and manage her time in a way that helped serve her goals

In Anna's words:

"Meg is a fantastic personal trainer, I have never used a PT before and I'm so glad I chose Meg. I spoke to another PT from my gym before deciding whether to go down this route and Meg was different from the start he was not pushy and made me feel comfortable to take the journey. I have been having PT sessions for less than two months and the improvement of my abilities in the gym is noticeable.

Meg doesn't just stand there whilst you use machines like some PTs -  he will build a programme especially for you and your needs and what you are capable of and teaches you how to complete moves safely before progressing to more advanced ones.

He pushes you to your limit but never over it to ensure you have the best workout to achieve your goals, he makes every session enjoyable and is always on the end of the phone to answer and questions and checks in with me when he sees I'm not usual self.

I really enjoy going to the gym now and can even feel confident to go in on my own and complete his additional workouts."

Sam G.

Senior Manager

Goal: fat/weight loss

Our strategy:

  • To make gym sessions feel less intimidating by incorporating supersets/trisets in set areas

  • To use PT sessions to improve movement competency, 'ironing out' any kinks in her technique, inherited from previous coaches

  • To gently build confidence in the gym environment (and out of it), through the creation of a custom weekly fitness programme that has her training in the gym solo and at home twice more

  • To play to her nutritional strengths (she came to me with a strong track record of being able to adhere to targets), challenging her every 2-3 weeks with new, more advanced ways, to leverage nutrition to help her reach her goals

  • To improve lifestyle balance through sleep tracking/habits, as well as her mindset through attention on her self-care practices

In Sam's words:

"The Fit Life PT has been an absolute game changer for me! Before I started training with Meg, I felt intimidated and unsure about going to the gym, but he's helped me build confidence and feel comfortable with every workout.

His expertise and motivational approach have kept me on track and accountable, even on days when I might have given up on my own.

Meg’s knowledge is incredible, and he always knows how to push me just the right amount, making each session both challenging and rewarding. I can already see a difference in myself and I would highly recommend The Fit Life PT to anybody wanting to change the way they think about and approach fitness."

The Fit Life 360 and Mentorship

Kind words from those I've helped 1:1 online.

Screenshot 2023-12-30 at 11.40.29.png

Michael G.

Operations Director

Meg has consistently been the inspirational push I needed to put my short term and long term goals into easy to achieve actions. Never judging or doubting my behaviour really made the coaching experience very easy, while at the same time challenged me to achieve more. Meg’s guidance helped me to focus on why I wanted to improve my fitness and lifestyle.

He doesn’t just give you a workout program, he provides support, advice, guidance and motivation to change your attitude to fitness and eating. I’m five months into the Mentorship and looking back now I’ve come so far but only with Meg keeping me on the straight and narrow.

In addition to my overall fitness, Meg helped me to focus on the things I could do differently to improve my running style and cardio training. His guidance gave me the confidence to run a PB in a recent 10k.

I would recommend The Mentorship to anyone who struggles to find the motivation, purpose or method to make a lifestyle change for the better. Many coaches offer fitness and eating routines but Meg’s offering exceeds this by going further into your motivations and making sure changes last.

The Mentorship has been so helpful: learning about exercise and nutrition has really helped me to progress towards my goals and I see this as something that will better me in the long run, not just short-term.

The amount of support provided is amazing so you're definitely in good hands. With such a great support system you're basically guaranteed to see results!

Matt B.

Search & Rescue Officer

I approached Meg as someone who had used gyms before, but never really had the motivation or knowledge to get into a regular routine of exercise and feel confident doing so. He helped me get my nutrition to an optimal level for my goal (fat loss & muscle retention, with the overarching goal to eventually start gaining some muscle), encouraged me to take more time for myself and developed a programme based on what I already enjoyed and was open to giving a go.

From weekly check-in calls to lifestyle clinics to video chats, he has blown my expectations out of the water to deliver a truly personalised programme.

I don't have a functional gym at home, but what I do still have is a trainer that is capable of adapting my programme to suit my needs based on what equipment, time and ability level I'm at for each exercise. If I'm unsure of a movement or just want pointers on my form, I can send Meg a video and get rapid feedback.

I'd recommend The Mentorship to anyone who wishes to get into better shape, regardless of your current experience level.

Before I started with the Fit Life, I struggled with organising myself and my time and was nervous about hurting myself in the gym. With this came a heap of stress from studies, all of which was had a real impact on my mental health.

The years that Meg has been mymentor have given me an arsenal of skills and tools that have allowed me to develop both my physical and mental selves. These have been constantly evolving and are always personalised to my needs and goals.

Meg is a must have, whether you train with him in person or online.

Working with Meg is a pleasure. He has a very energetic, positive approach and encouraged me on every step of my journey. Areas of the Mentorship are challenging, but setting yourself goals and trying new ideas should be!

I would recommend this to anyone who aspires to reach new goals, targets or to increase their knowledge. Meg makes it fun, personable and achievable! Thank you Meg.

When I first started the Mentorship I had no idea what I was in for! I knew I needed to make a change in my lifestyle if I wanted to achieve some of the goals that I'd set for myself after a few years of over indulgence.

My lifestyle is a little different to most and I thought it would be a challenge. Meg rose to the occasion, and smashed all my expectations to pieces. He’s given me a new perspective.

Thank you for a truly amazing journey, and great learning experience. This will stay with me for life, and I’d pay tenfold for a service with so much passion, knowledge & value.

I've had coaches in the past and I've found that either I wasn't getting enough in the way of feedback or they were just uninterested but Meg is a step above. His attitude and assurance puts you at ease, whilst the information he gives you isn't patronising but really eye opening.

It's been really easy to fit the Mentorship in around my life. I am big advocate of his approach to goals as well: challenging you, but also being understanding of your needs/wants without being condescending.

I've already recommended Meg to some of my friends and would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for effective results, no matter the goal.

Working with Meg has been such a beneficial and enjoyable experience. He is always willing to share his expert knowledge with you - helping you discover new ways to meet your targets.

As a vegetarian, I felt like my body needed more energy and better fuel to help me during training and recovery. I knew very little about what my body needed. As I started thinking about competing, I wanted help to hit my goals.

Meg uses a personalised approach geared towards goal setting, all whilst keeping you accountable (even with a busy lifestyle!) Thank you Meg.

I’ve always hit a block in implementing a healthy routine around my professional, academic and social life, however Meg’s methods and mentoring made me extremely proud of the changes I was able to achieve.

The effort that he puts in behind the scenes to provide quality snapshots of your progress and areas for improvement in the check ins is exceptional, and much of what he highlighted was eye-opening for me.

I particularly appreciated the attention he paid to personalising my experience by tailoring my strategy towards specific goals - and ultimately produce the results I was looking for!

I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the challenge. It's perfect if you’re looking to improve your fitness and Meg takes a holistic approach to healthy living, with loads of great advice from nutrition and exercise to sleep and mindfulness.

The workouts are challenging and can be done at the gym or at home. Plus everything is logged on the app which makes it super easy to keep motivated and stay on track!

As someone who loves being active and keeping fit, I feel I have struggled to find the time to build this into my current lifestyle and routines. I saw the challenge as a great opportunity to try to shake things up and refocus on how I could improve my overall health and fitness.

What I really liked about it was that it did not just focus on training plans. The resources provided as part of the challenge cover a wide range of areas including diet, wellbeing, habits etc. All the resources are really nicely presented and explained in clear, simple language which is easy to follow.

Throughout the challenge you're encouraged to complete tasks which I found helped focus you on thinking about all aspects of your lifestyle. Another fun element was the access to the forum where you could engage with the others on the challenge which I personally found motivating.

Thanks very much for putting this together Meg, there’s clearly a huge amount of thought and experience gone in to the development and the value you can get from the challenge is much greater than just buying a training or diet plan. Two weeks post challenge I feel that some of the changes I made are here to stay and I am already seeing and feeling the benefits!

The Fit Life Plans

Kind words from those who have used my online Plans.

I confidently can tell you that the Plans stand out as one of, if not the best, fitness programs I've ever engaged in.

Despite trying various popular online and real-life coaching services, the Plans are user-friendly and a breeze to use. They allowed me the flexibility to schedule workouts and track my habits at my convenience: a crucial aspect considering my daily routines and demanding work schedule.

It's a comprehensive 360-degree experience, encompassing nutrition, mindset, fitness, and lifestyle. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with my results and am eagerly looking forward to progressing to another Plan soon!

I've always been someone who has started and stopped various training programmes from weights to cardio. I thought I had lots of knowledge but it is only after starting the Plans that I realised how much I didn't know!

I liked that I didn't have to trawl through hours of footage to understand what I needed to do to maximise my workouts. I loved the nutrition content too, which helped me to reverse a decade of criminalising carbs. I learnt that everything in moderation and that if my protein levels were correct the rest would fall in to place without counting and weighing every single gram of food.

I now feel really well equipped as I now know what exercises and daily routines will help me to achieve my goals in a long term sustainable way.

I loved being able to look at the short tutorial videos whilst working out - being able to correct my form - it felt like having someone with you throughout your gym workout (which can often be really daunting when everyone else looks like they know exactly what they are doing!).

The Plans have given me the motivation and confidence to navigate the gym floor again, map out my goals in a way that's sustainable and meaningful to me as well as prioritising my mental wellbeing.

The Plans are extremely well designed and have allowed me to reach my goals and measure the progress.

I’d recommend them to anyone who is looking to better themselves physically and therefore mentally. Especially because they’re great value. It’s kind of astonishing how good value.
